I am sure that the vast majority of users do not know anything about how to change the battery in the phone. Of course, I’m not saying that this should be done on your own, because this is a separate work. But almost everyone’s idea of replacing a battery is limited to the “open-take-out-insert-close” principle. This is exactly how self-taught people work at the subway or in shopping centers. They just change the battery and do not even think about the fact that the phone will not work correctly in this way, because the iPhone is still a little more complicated than the TV remote control. Let’s see what the main difficulty lies in and how you can solve performance problems after replacement.

Let’s start with the fact that the battery of a smartphone has long ceased to be something simple, if it ever was at all. Now it is a powerful tool to ensure the battery life of the phone. As abstruse as it may sound, but that’s the way it is.
How the battery works
In addition to chemical elements, which, interacting with each other, produce energy. After that, during charging, you start the reverse process, and the battery, as it were, stores energy. In fact, the electrons simply return to their original state, and the chemical process begins anew. This, of course, is a very simplified scheme, but it already becomes clear how the process of “accumulation” of energy takes place.
Tricks that Apple goes for
But besides the chemical elements themselves, the battery module also includes other components. In particular, a controller that “communicates” with other components of the smartphone and transmits information, in particular, about the remaining charge and maximum capacity (you can see it in the settings). And here the most interesting begins. If you simply reinstall the battery – even the original one – from another iPhone, the phone won’t be able to correctly display the remaining charge (read “maximum capacity”). This is some trick that Apple once again went for. Whether this is due to security, or to the fact that we change the batteries in authorized service centers or at Apple itself, but there is such a situation. True, they only face this iPhone Xs and newer users.
Resoldering the controller is not a mandatory procedure and you can do without it if you are satisfied that the phone will not receive and give you correct data regarding the battery. If you don’t want to leave the controller, the Apple Pro can simply replace the battery, but you will be warned about the consequences. This should be done in all responsible services. But, as I said above, this can be bypassed. To do this, solder the controller from the old battery. Our friends at the Apple Pro service center showed us how it’s done, and we didn’t even think that the process was so complicated. Below is a description of how this happens.
First of all, you need to find out what is the maximum battery capacity of the iPhone initially. To do this, go to “Settings”, then open the item ”Battery” and find inside it ”Battery status“. Here you will see its maximum capacity as a percentage. You also need to connect the iPhone to the computer and, through a special diagnostic program, check the number of charge / discharge cycles on the battery itself.
Now we disassemble the phone to gain access to the battery. We take it off and start working with it. True, it is glued and you just can’t pull it outbut if you know how to do it, the process will take just a couple of seconds.
When the battery is in front of us, we check the power consumption from the laboratory power supply. Something that visiting masters and services “near the metro” do not do. After this procedure, we proceed to the replacement. Remove the controller from the original battery and try to assemble the phone without it. The controller itself will come in handy later with proper assembly. For now, we’ll just see how will the phone work with a different battery. Install it and see what we get.
Turn on the phone and go to the section with information about the battery status. There will be dashes in the field with the maximum capacity. This indicates that the phone is not receiving information about the battery status. In addition, at the top of the screen there will be a warning that non-original battery installed. If you have recently changed the battery, perform a similar check. You may have received a bad repair.
Now we try to do everything right and disassemble the phone again to get the installed battery. We do this in order to mount a controller on it, which we put aside a couple of steps ago.
For calibration, you need to reflash the controller on special equipment. That is, it is necessary to indicate to him 100% capacity and 0 charge cycles, so that he counts this correctly and from the full capacity of the new battery.
After that, solder the old controller to the new battery and assemble it.

All checks showed that the battery module was assembled correctly and can be installed in the iPhone. To do this, we install a protective gasket to ensure tightness and protection against water.
Now it remains only to install the seal on the battery and make the final assembly.
When everything is assembled, turn on the phone and go to the usual settings item. Here we see that the maximum battery capacity is displayed correctly, and the warning that the battery is not original has disappeared.
That’s all. This is the correct build. Apple Pro specialists said that users often come to them after replacing the battery in other services with a request to solve this problem. The only trouble is that without saving the original controller, it will be very difficult to do something.
As I said above, you can replace the battery without replacing the controller, but in this case you will not receive the product with the original properties. And far from all services will guess to offer you such a procedure. Therefore, it is necessary to turn to good ones.
