The iPhone 14 Pro has problems with the camera. But it’s not about Apple

Iphones

Many users have long been waiting for Apple to increase iphone camera resolution. But in Cupertino, year after year, the same argument has been used: the quality of the images is not in megapixels. This is true, but some tasks required more resolution than the iPhone could give. Just imagine, Apple has been using 12-megapixel cameras since the iPhone 6s, which came out in 2015. Of course, this is not the same module, but the fact remains. And here are the new models iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max finally got a completely redesigned main camera, including resolution.

The first buyers who received new items already began to brag with might and main about high-quality images exactly until the moment when they launched the camera through third-party applications. Here they were in for a surprise. The image was shaking, and the camera itself began to buzz very suspiciously. We figure out whether this is just a flaw in third-party software or whether Apple has released a massive marriage.

iPhone stabilization

Buying a new smartphone for many users is a small holiday. Especially if the novelty is significantly different in capabilities from the one that is. As I said above, Apple’s transition to higher resolution cameras has been expected for years. In fact, the position of the company from Cupertino is quite correct. Adding megapixels to the camera will not add quality to the pictures. Look at Xiaomi smartphones. For example, on Redmi Note 10 Pro. There is a 108-megapixel camera installed, but the photos from this phone are far from iPhones.

The transition to the new camera took place due to the fact that Apple squeezed everything it could out of the standard 12-megapixel modules. Further development of these cameras will most likely be on standard iPhone models until they become shoot like iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max. That is, until at least ProRaw appears in these models. And after that they will be transferred to new modules.

Starting with the iPhone 12 Pro Max, iPhones used the system optical image stabilization with sensor shift. In simple terms, the principle of its operation is to shift the matrix in the right direction, thereby compensating for shaking and stabilizing the final image. This year in all models iPhone 14 lineups Apple has upgraded the optical stabilization system. The new smartphones have the same system with a sensor shift, but the second generation. The manufacturer claims that everything has become even smoother.

Why is the iPhone camera shaking?

But the first users of new products faced a completely different effect in the new camera. When trying to launch it through Snapchat, TikTok or another application, the image began to shake violently, and the module emitted a buzz. As if stabilization began to work in the opposite direction. At the same time, when launching the camera through a standard application, no such effects were observed. Here’s what the first owners say new iPhone 14 Pro:

How it looks live, you can see here on this video:

At the moment, no complaints about the standard camera app users do not. Even if you run it immediately after any third-party program, the system works efficiently and smoothly.

Apparently, the developers of third-party applications were not ready to update the stabilization system and the camera in general in the new iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. We can say with absolute certainty that this is not a marriage. The camera in the new products works correctly, and both pictures and videos are of very high quality. Most likely there is a software glitch. Developers urgently need to update their applications for new firmware, and then a similar problem will no longer be observed.

At the moment, there is no other solution to the problem other than waiting for an update for users. In this case, you can safely continue to use the camera simply through the standard application. If you are used to shooting directly from social networks, then for some time you will have to give up such habits.

In this situation, almost nothing depends on Apple. The company cannot influence the speed of third-party updates in any way. In fact, after the first reports of this problem, it became a little disturbing. This year iOS 16 release accompanied by a large number of various difficulties, ranging from the impossibility download apps from App Store and ending with the problem with activating new iPhones and iMessage with FaceTime on them. We even published a separate article about some of them. But in this case, there is no Apple error. Please note that this problem does not occur on regular iPhone 14.
